Aranais

The aranais ( aranés ) is the name given to a Dialecte of the Occitan (Gascon) spoken in the Val about Aran (Catalogne, Spain). It is official language of the Valley of Aran since this territory received a statute of semi-autonomy in 1990 (statute imbricated in the broader autonomy of the area Catalogne). Since 2006, the occitan is Official language in all the Catalogne area, according to the new statute (August 9th, 2006) of this autonomous community: " the language occitane, called aranais in the Valley of Aran, is the own language of this territory, and it is official in Catalonia, in accordance with what establish this Statute and the laws of standardization linguistique". It is a dialect Gascon of mountain which profits from a linguistic standardization in agreement with the traditional Norme of the occitan.
