Arab Parliament

The Arab Parliament is a Parliament creates after the top of the Arab Ligue of 2001. It is a provisional Parliament which aims at setting up a permanent Parliament, or the deputies will be elected on the model of the the European Parliament.

Creation

In 2001, the Arab Pays agreed to create and finance an Arab Parliament, and to grant to the secretary-general of the League, Amr Moussa the capacities to create and set up this assembly. The first transfer was held with the Cairo the December 27th 2005. The training of the assembly was approved at the time of the top of the Arab League of Algiers, in March 2005. Inspired by the European Parliament, the assembly is advisory and transitory. The Parliament is composed of two members of Parliament per country, named for a five years mandate.

The Parliament is today with Damas and must prepare " creation; of a permanent Parliament which, to ensure its popular anchoring, would be elected according to the model of the European Parliament ". The Parliament discusses relative files with the dangers threatening Arab safety, of the economic and social problems as well as human rights.

Composition of the assembly

The Parliament is composed of 67 deputies, resulting from 22 Arab countries. It is Nabih Berri, the president of the Lebanese Parlement which chairs this assembly.
