Aqueduct Anio Vetus

The Aqueduc of Anio Vetus ( Aqua Anio Vetus ) is the second Aqueduc with Rome from which construction began in 272 av J. - C. and finished in 269 av J. - C. They are the critics Manius Curius Dentatus and Flavius Flaccus which ordered its construction, thanks to the spoils of the victory against Pyrrhus.

It took its provisioning of the river Anio, and finished between the Porte Esquiline and the Viminal. It was almost completely underground, for strategic reasons.

Several times repaired, in particular by Quintus Marcius Rex then by Clutched in 33 av. J. - C. and Auguste at the time of first century BC It acquired the name of Vetus when the Aqueduc Anio Novus was built. After the reforms of Frontin, water quality being bad, it was mainly employed to sprinkle the gardens.
