Apron
With the Theater, the apron or proscenium is the part of the Scène which lies between the slope and the Cadre of scene.
Originally, in a ancient Greek Théâtre, it is on the Proskénion that the Acteur S. played.
When the Rideau of scene is closed, the apron can form an independent scene “out of spur”. This apron comprises generally only some elements of decoration and accessories. As no barrier is drawn up between the actors and the spectators, the spectacle then seems to be held in the middle of the public. One can interpret interludes there, or of short parts in a preceding act the principal spectacle. A part played thus at the beginning of program on the apron is called a curtain raiser .
