Concerts

Apocalyptica was made known in 1996 by taking again the pieces of Metallica to the violoncello and by ensuring the first part of the latter at the time of their round in Finland.

The group was illustrated more recently with the Germans of Rammstein by ensuring the first part of the round “Reise, Reise” in 2005. The Finns were not satisfied with the first part and played their side during the recalls.

Influences

Eicca Toppinen states to be influenced by Dmitri Chostakovitch, Metallica, Sepultura, Mstislav Rostropovitch and Sergueï Prokofiev. The group also took again the piece In The Hall Off The Mountain King ( the château/Le hall of the king of the mountain ) of Edvard Grieg ( Peer Gynt ), like The dance off eternity of Dream Theater.

At the beginning rather conventional (resumption of pieces of Metallica), the music of the group is characterized since Cult by a set of Russian and Eastern influences and a rate/rhythm less heavily marked.
