Apocalyptica
Apocalyptica is a group Finnish of traditional metal (not to be confused with the symphonic Metal, mixture of keyboards and traditional song on metal) created in 1993 by Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, max Lilja and Antero Manninen (replaced by Perttu Kivilaakso after its departure in 1999), all resulting from the Académie Sibelius of Helsinki. The characteristic of this group is to be mainly made up of Violoncelle S.
The leader and type-setter of the group are Eicca Toppinen.

Concerts
Apocalyptica was made known in 1996 by taking again the pieces of Metallica to the violoncello and by ensuring the first part of the latter at the time of their round in Finland.The group was illustrated more recently with the Germans of Rammstein by ensuring the first part of the round “Reise, Reise” in 2005. The Finns were not satisfied with the first part and played their side during the recalls.
Influences
Eicca Toppinen states to be influenced by Dmitri Chostakovitch, Metallica, Sepultura, Mstislav Rostropovitch and Sergueï Prokofiev. The group also took again the piece In The Hall Off The Mountain King ( the château/Le hall of the king of the mountain ) of Edvard Grieg ( Peer Gynt ), like The dance off eternity of Dream Theater.At the beginning rather conventional (resumption of pieces of Metallica), the music of the group is characterized since Cult by a set of Russian and Eastern influences and a rate/rhythm less heavily marked.

- Two parts of the album Plays Metallica by Four Cellos can be found in the soundtrack of the film Your Friends and Neighbors produces in 1998;
- the part Hope vol.2 is useful like song-topic in the film Vidocq produces in 2001;
- individual the Bittersweet is useful like song-topic in the video game The Settlers: Heritage off the Kings ;
- individual the Life Burns can be found in the soundtrack of the video game Burnout Revenge , left in September 2005;
- Apocalyptica played the song-topic of Russian film " Бойстенью (Shadowboxing) " composed by A. Shelygin;
- In 2007, the French Brian Joubert is crowned champion of Europe then world champion of Figure skating on its program based on the music of Apocalyptica ( Nothing Else Matters , Creeping Death , The Unforgiven );
- Apocalyptica played during the counting of the voices to the Concours Eurovision of the song 2007 with Helsinki.
