Antony Garrett Lisi
Antony Garrett Lisi , born in 1968, is a doctor in American Physique (Ph.D with the the University of California with San Diego in 1999) and enquiring amateur. It published the November 6th 2007 on ArXiv an article of 31 pages entitled An Exceptionally Simple Theory off Everything ( a Théorie of the exceptionally simple whole ) which caused very many debates.
Biography
Impassioned sliding sports, he always acknowledges to have sought balance between research in physics and practical of his passions. He exerted the trade of monitor of Snowboard during the winter season 2003 - 2004 with Breckenridge in the Colorado and that of monitor of excursion in Hawaii where he currently resides.Attached to any laboratory, it currently does not occupy a station in a university (if it is not a station of visitor at the university of Hawaii). In 2006, it obtains a purse of the private foundation Foundational Questions in Physics and Cosmology or FQXi and is also helped by the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in order to make fundamental physics researches. It was unknown general public until the publication of its theory on ArXiv.
It is about the fourth article which he sent to the database Université Cornell. The three preceding articles, gone back to 1994,2002 and 2005, add up six quotations according to Citebase and one of them was published in the Journal off Physics .
a theory of the exceptionally simple whole
The theory of Lisi is based mainly on the Groupe of Dregs E8, which are at the same time an exceptional group and a simple group, the theory drawing its name from the word game with these characteristics. The group , discovered in 1887 by Wilhelm Killing and whose cartography was published the March 19th 2007, was already used in particular in Théorie of the cords since 1984. Lisi is dissociated by employing it in a Espace-temps with only four dimensions.
Like any theory claiming with the statute of Theory of the whole, the theory proposes to unify the four fundamental forces nature - the strong Interaction, the weak Interaction, the electromagnetic Force and the gravitational Force. The majority of the theories of the whole unify initially the électrofaible Interaction (rather accepted well) and the strong interaction in a nuclear force, for then unifying this interaction with gravity. The theory of Lisi joins together initially the électrofaible interaction and gravity in a force graviweak (which one could translate by “gravifaible”), then the latter with the strong force unifies. This way is rather rare, but is former to the publication of Lisi.
The theory was strongly commented on in everyone scientific, debates which were relayed by the media general practitioners, although it was not published by an organization at reading panel (arXiv having for function to precisely accommodate the articles before such a publication). Criticisms for example stressed that the Théorème of Coleman-Mandula invalid the theory, Lisi itself affirming that its theory violates a prémice of the theorem but not having shown it yet regard its work as partly vague and precise parts like false.
Lisi is currently occupied to determine the masses of more than 20 new particles introduced by its theory. If the masses are sufficiently low, the particles could beings created by the Particle accelerator LHC, which would make its theory refutable.
