Antonio Talbot
Antonio Talbot (Saint-Pierre-of-the-River-of-South, May 29th, 1900 - Quebec, September 25th, 1980) is a lawyer and politician Québécois. He was chief of the Official opposition to the legislative Assemblée of Quebec for a short period in 1961.
Biography
Originating in the area of Montmagny, Antonio Talbot makes his studies with the Séminaire of Quebec and the Université Laval. He will be allowed with the Barreau of Quebec in 1925 and will practice the right to Quebec and Chicoutimi. He is elected Bâtonnier Barreau of Quebec in 1945.He is elected Député with the legislative Parliament of Quebec to the favor of a by-election in the district of Chicoutimi, on May 25th, 1938. He will be re-elected with 7 recoveries under the banner of the National union, until his departure of the political scene in 1965. Talbot is Minister for the Roadway system in the governments of Maurice Duplessis, Paul Sauvé and Antonio Barrette (1944 - 1960).
After the resignation of Bar, it is named temporary chief of the National union and chief of the Official opposition, a station which it will occupy from January 11th, 1961 to September 23rd, 1961. It will yield its station to Daniel Johnson (father) during her nomination to the direction of the party.
The construction of the road 175, which crosses the faunal Réserve of Laurentides, is announced by Antonio Talbot as of his nomination as Minister for the Roadway system, in 1944. In the beginning, the road is called boulevard Talbot before seeing itself allotting this name officially.
