Antonio Francisco Javier Jose Soler Ramos , baptized the December 3rd 1729 and died the December 20th 1783, was a monk, type-setter and Clavecin Spanish ist. One generally speaks about the Padre Soler .
Antonio Soler is the principal Spanish type-setter of the 18th century for the harpsichord if one excludes Domenico Scarlatti, Italian which spent the thirty last years of its life to Spain and introduced there its so particular style, influenced by the popular music of his country of adoption. Antonio Soler places itself directly in the wake and the tradition of the Neapolitan Master.
He had been born in Olot in the province from Gérone (in Catalogne). He began his musical studies at the six years age to the Manécanterie of Montserrat. He entered then in religion the order of the Hiéronymite S and was ordered priest in 1752. He had suddenly belonged to the community hiéronymite from San Lorenzo of the Escurial and was to pass there the remainder of his existence while exerting his musical gifts as a Choirmaster. He côtoya thus Scarlatti, with the service of Spanish monarchy and probably collected there his teaching and his councils. Their common point is their important production of Sonate S for the harpsichord; this term does not correspond besides, in these two type-setters, with the traditional sonata in 4 movements: those of Scarlatti are in general with only one movement of form " continuation " i.e. of binary cut with recovery, those of Soler have more varied structure.
Antonio Soler died in Escurial in 1783. He had also written a treaty theoretical Llave of the modulación (Key of the modulation) and carried out mechanical devices such as a divider of the your major into 20 equal interval S.
Its musical production is very important. It includes/understands (nonexhaustive list):
- 6 concertos for two organ (musical scarcity)
- 9 Mass S
- 25 Anthem S
- 60 Psalm S
- 5 Motet S
- 5 Requiem
