Antonio Segni

Antonio Segni (born the February 2nd 1891 with Sassari and deceased on February 1st 1972), is a Italian Politician .

Resulting from a family of the old nobility originating in Genoa, it lawyer and professor of civil procedure at the university. He taught with Sassari, Cagliari, Pavia, Perugia and finally Rome. In 1919 it adheres to the Popular party Luigi Sturzo. In withdrawal during Fascism, it is one of the founders of the Christian Democrat in 1943. Elected official appointed in 1946, and constantly read again until his accession with the presidency of the Republic in 1962, he is the leader of the moderate wing of his party. Of 1944 with 1946 he is under-secretary with agriculture. Of 1946 with 1962 he is on several occasions Minister for agriculture, the state education, defense and the foreign affairs.

As a Minister for agriculture, he is the author of one reforms radical.

President of the council of the July 6th 1955 with the May 6th 1957 and of the February 15th 1959 with the February 24th 1960. President of the Italian Republic of the May 6th 1962. Reached by a cerebral accident striking down the August 7th 1964, it remains paralyzed and resigns the December 6th 1964. During its disease, the president's functions of the Republic are exerted by the president of the Senate Cesare Merzagora. After its resignation it is withdrawn with private life.

His/her son Mario Segni is him also an Italian man poliic.
