Antonio Bienvenida

Antonio Mejías Jiménez known as “Antonio Bienvenida” , born with Caracas (Venezuela) the June 25th 1922, died with Madrid (Spain) the October 7th 1975, was a Spanish Matador.

Presentation

Antonio Bienvenida is undoubtedly most known of the descendants of Handbook Mejías Rapela “Manolo Bienvenida”. He takes the alternate in Madrid the April 9th 1942, with like godfather his brother Jose Mejías Jiménez “Pepe Bienvenida”, in front of bulls of the Ganadería of Gift Eduardo Miura.

He took part in more than eight hundred Corrida S in all his career. The June 16th 1960, it makes the bet kill twelve bulls the same day, during two bullfights, one the afternoon, the other into night. It withdraws toreo following a bullfight in the arenas inhabitants of Madrid of Vista Alegre, the October 5th 1974.

One year afterwards, day for day, during a Tienta with El Escorial (Spain, Province of Madrid) in the ganadería of Doña Amelia Pérez-Tabernero, it is reversed by the cow “Conocida”, which causes him irreversible lesions with the cervical vertebrae. He dies in Madrid on October 7th, 1975.
