Antoni Muntadas

Antoni Muntadas , born in 1942 with Barcelona (Spain) is a multi-media artist, sometimes also appointed under the name of Antonio Muntadas or, simply, of Muntadas.

After studies of architecture and engineering in Barcelona, Muntadas chooses to be devoted to Article It settles with New York (E. - U.) in 1971.

Muntadas was companion of research of the Center for Advanced Visual Studies with the Massachusetts Institute off Technology (MIT), of 1977 to 1984, and is currently invited professor of MIT Visual Arts Program . Its work was largely exposed, amongst other things with the Museum off Modern Art, with the Biennale de Venise, the Documenta 6 and with the Documenta X.

Its works are generally interactive. In 1995, it obtained Ars Electronica Golden Nica for its work celebrates The File Room . It is an installation in connection with the censure, which functions at the same time in space of the exposure and on Internet. It is an innovative project of art on Internet, launched in 1994, the installation is composed of an open database where the cases of censure are indexed. Another work on the long run, One Translation , milked problems of the language and translation, interpretation and transcription. The project was carried out in various forms, inter alia several different exposures and a Web site.
