Anton Pieck

Anton Franciscus Pieck , born on April 19th, 1895 with Den Helder and dead on November 25th, 1987 with Overveen is painter, illustrator Dutch.

Biography

Born in a modest family from the north of Holland, Anton has a twin brother (Henri Christiaan Pieck). They express both, very quickly an interest for the artistic world. At the 11 years age, Anton is rewarded for a price for a watercolour of a still life.

Raise at the school of visual art Bik in Vaandrager institute of $the Hague of 1912 to 1920, it will become teaching of 1920 to 1960 in Kennemer Lyceum of Overveen.

Its romantic style is inspired by fantastic worlds and the universe of the marvellous tales. It illustrates many charts and calendars.

Since 1952, the artist will draw for the amusement park Efteling of the elements of thematisation and architecture, like many scenes of the wood of the tales.

Its museum

In 1984, the museum Anton Pieck is opened with Hattem. It is called " Door voor Anton Pieck" (litérallement, " The house of Anton Pieck").

A bronze bust representing the artist (realized by Kees Verkade) was installed on June 16th, 1983 in the town of Overveen.
