Antoine of the Old one

Antoine of Old the (or Laage ) (1602 - July 1635, castle of Vincennes)

Knight, lord of Puylaurens, the Perrusse, the City-Aubrun and Walnut trees, then duke of Puylaurens, Even of France. It is resulting from a noble family of the Languedoc.

Attached to the house of Gaston-Jean-Baptist of France, Duke of Orleans, it took the ascending one on him. Gaston did it ordinary gentleman of his room, Grand Master of the wardrobe, then his first Chambellan, superintendent, large-Master enquestor and reforming general of the Eaux & forests of sound Apanage and of the field of the duchess of Orleans.

He advises the brother of Louis XIII in his intrigues against Richelieu.

It is Puylaurens which organized the escape of Gaston towards Brussels in 1632 after the capture of Henri II of Montmorency, then it negotiated its return with Richelieu, provided that it is reconciled with the king. He obtained in reward in 1634 the erection of the seigniory of Aiguillon in Duchy-Peerage, under the name of Puylaurens.

He took again then his intrigues and the king Louis XIII of France made it stop the February 14th 1635. He was led to Louvres then with Vincennes with the Sieur de Fargis. He there died without children in July 1635 and was buried two days after in small Augustins of Paris.

His wife is Marguerite-Philippe of Cambout.
