Antoine Sfeir

Antoine Sfeir , born the November 25th 1948 with Beirut with the Lebanon, is a Politologue and a journalist Lebanon alive Christian board in France. It acquired French nationality in 1980.

He is the director of the Cahiers of the East (re-examined studies and reflections on the world arabo-Moslem), chairs the Center of studies and reflections on the Middle East and is professor in International relations with the Celsa.

Biography

Of 1968 with 1976, he is Co-person in charge of the foreign service of the newspaper the East the Day only French-speaking daily of the Close relation and the the Middle East.

In 1977 it founds the newspaper I inform , then until in 1989 he becomes journalist with the French newspaper the Cross then with the Pèlerin . It is also a collaborator of the newspaper the Point , Quotidien of Paris and the Event of Thursday , as well as reviews Études , Esprit , Africa and Asia Moderne and International policy .

It founds in 1985 the Cahiers of the East , produced with 4 000 specimens each quarter. This newspaper wants to be a window open on the the Mediterranean and rests on a editorial charter founded on the Francophonie.

It is consulting various radio transmissions (Europe 1) or televised on the topics which turn around the Islam and of the Arab world . It is very often invited in the emission C in the air, of Yves Calvi.

At the time of a public debate on the Secularity organized by the the Great East of France in 2006, it was declared very pessimistic, on the future of this one in France, opposed in that to Caroline Fourest which on the contrary was delighted by the foreseeable combat of ideas to come, that she considered it clean to give again a little tonicity to this concept and the values of freedom of the Europe.
