Antoine-Bonaventure Pitrot , known as elder Pitrot , is a Danseur, Ballet master Chorégraphe and French born with Marseilles the March 31st 1727 and died after 1792. He is the older brother of Jean-Baptiste Pitrot. Their father Barthélemy Pitrot is a Acteur which furrowed the French province in first half of the 18th century.

Antoine Pitrot begins his career with the Opéra from Paris in 1744 and will be then, on several occasions, ballet master to the Theater-Italian. He continues a brilliant career through Europe, until in Russia, and composes of many Ballet S. He is regarded as one of the precursors of the Ballet of action to Paris.
