Antoine Perrin de Brichambault

Antoine Perrin de Brichambault , born with Nancy in Meurthe, on November 28th, 1777, was a French soldier.

Resulting from an old family attached to the reigning dukes, then to the king Stanislas, it was allowed with the military academy of Pont-à-Mousson in 1786 and in 1779 left there. It made the countryside of 1793, like voluntary artillery soldier and passed to the Armée with North and Sambre-and-Meuse under the general Marescot, who named it assistant genius.

After the seats of Charleroi, of Landrecies, Quesnoy, of Maestricht, Valencian, it entered to the school of Metz as raises second lieutenant of the genious (1794). The Comité of public hello relieved it in 1795, but one reinstated it as lieutenant the October 30th 1796.

In 1799, it was used for the Armée with the Rhine, was employed with the Blocus of Philisbourg, named captain the August 18th and assistance-of-camp of the general Marescot, whom it followed to the Camp of Boulogne, in Bavaria, in Austria, Prussia and Spain.

In 1808, it returned in the body of the genius as captain in first, requested its setting-with the reform in 1810, due to health or by dissatisfaction.

In 1813, it fought in duel with Mr. D' Estournel, captain with the staff of the prince Berthier, and, following this duel, was exiled with Nancy.

During the invasion of 1814, as of the day of the entry of the Russians in Nancy, it was declared publicly for the Bourbon S, offered with eagerness its services to the Count d' Artois and accepted its nomination of lieutenant-colonel from it. Of return to Nancy, it composed several make out against the Emperor.

In 1815, it followed Louis XVIII to Ghent in the capacity as incorporated volunteer to pomegranates with horse ordered by the Marquis of Rochejacquelein to Ghent; the command of the genius of the place was entrusted to him.

Returned with the king and called with the higher command of Bilge, it had order to summon this fortress: it blocked it until its rendering with peasants whom it had organized.

Named colonel in 1816, chief engineer with Lille, director of the genious with Lorient, then to Nantes, it strongly contributed to dissipate sedition excited in this city in June 1820.

In 1823, it was attached to the body under the orders of Lauriston, as chief of the genious, and was distinguished with Pampelune, Saint-Sebastien, Lérida.

It was put at the retirement the December 31st 1826 with the rank of Brigadier. It was already Chevalier of Saint-Louis, Officer of the Legion of Honor and knight of the Ordre of Saint-Ferdinand of Spain; the king had created it baron in 1817. Mr. de Brichambault had always dealt with literary work, it devoted himself to it exclusively when it was put at the retirement. Charles Nodier makes the greatest praise of its productions in one of its literary appreciations.
