Antoine Labeyrie (born in 1943) is a Astronome French, professor with the Collège de France.
Qualified engineer of SupOptique (ESO 65), his speciality is the Optique, and more particularly the techniques of Interférométrie. Since the Années 1970 its contributions were largely taken again since almost all the large world observatories have an interferometer now. Interferometry makes it possible to combine the light received by several separate mirrors and thus to virtually have the equivalent of a more important mirror.
It received the Prix Beatrice Mr. Tinsley in 1990. The Astéroïde (8788) Labeyrie bears its name.
