Antoine Godeau
Antoine Godeau , born with Dreux the September 24th 1605 and died in Vence the April 21st 1672, is a man of letters and bishop French.
Cousin and friend of Conrart, he attends the living room of M {{me}} of Scudéry and the Hôtel of Rambouillet, where he is affublé nickname “the Dwarf of Julie”. Small and ugly, it owes its success with its inventive and merry spirit. It becomes one of the first members of the French Academy in 1634.
Ordered priest with Paris on May 7th 1636, Richelieu grants to him the évêché on May 15th of Grasse, where it settles on March 25th 1637. He becomes member of the Compagnie of the Blessed Sacrament and 1639 and creates with Grasse in 1640 a Mont of Piety to come to assistance the most stripped of.
