Its work

He reformed the Jurisprudence by seeking the interpretation of the Pandectes in the spirit of the law and not in the quibbles of the commentators, and to this end wrote several estimated works. It is in 1581, that it publishes its first work: Conjecturarum juris civilis libri very .

In its Conjecturarum , Favre is delivered with a singular energy and an acuity to hunting to the interpolations. Burning to spring on the traces of Cujas and Alciat, it concerned many grammatical inaccuracies which enabled him to detect the intervention of Tribonien in the drafting of the texts of the '' Digeste ''.

It is with an aim of making profit the practice from its work that Favre wrote the Codex Fabrianus , whose first edition appeared in Lyon in 1606; which, in spite of its sizeable dimensions - 1124 pages in folio in the edition of Geneva of 1765 - remains a work of easy consultation. What gave to Favre the idea of this collection of stops, it is, says it, the publication recently made in France of the Code Henri. According to him indeed, only the coding of the most remarkable stops of the Senate of Savoy could cure the deplorable situation where then the science of the right was. However its Latin works on jurisprudence fell little by little into the lapse of memory, except for the Codex Fabrianus which, until 1860, will remain in Savoy the guide of lawyers and the judges.

In 1589, it offers to Charles-Emmanuel Ier of Savoy, a tragedy being held in the Rome antique: Gordians and Maximins or the Ambition, works tragic, Premiers and last Essays of poetry of Antoine Favre , well far from light works of the time.
