Antoine Crozat, marquis of Chatel (Toulouse, towards 1655 - Paris, June 7th 1738).

Financial rich person, receiver of finances in Bordeaux, cash clerk of Pierre Louis Reich de Pennautier, treasurer of the States of Languedoc and general receiver of the clergy of France, it bought his load with this one in 1706. He made build the two hotels of the n°s 17 and 19 Place Vendôme. He obtained in 1712 the privilege of the trade of Louisiana and made great establishments in this colony. He was the first private owner of the French Louisiana between 1712 and 1717. In 1726 after the fusion of the existing farms, it becomes one of the forty farmers general of the general Ferme.
It is for his/her daughter that the abbot A. François wrote the known elementary geography under the name of Géographie of Crosat .
