Antoine Argoud
The colonel Antoine Argoud, born the June 26th 1914 with Darney (the Vosges), dead the June 10th 2004 with Vittel (the Vosges), was a French officer. He had joined himself the De Gaulle general in 1940. And had fought in the armies of the Free French Army in Africa and as far as Germany.
Burning partisan of the French Algeria, it was leading secret armed Organization. Removed by the Secret agent S (French special services) in February 1963 with Munich (Germany), it is condemned to the life imprisonment and is released in July 1968. This episode which caused the anger of the nationalist mediums accepted many criticisms on behalf of the political parties of right-hand side and extreme right-hand side. This incident is often indicated by the expression: “the Argoud business” .
Biography
Left the Polytechnic school in 1934, it enters as officer of active the armor-plated Weapon. At the time of the second world war, it benefits from the combined unloading, the November 8th 1942 in North Africa, to rejoin the Morocco (under French protectorate) and to engage in the 2 {{E}} armor-plated division and to take part in the Campagne of Tunisia.After 1945, Antoine Argoud looks further into his formation at the school of war of Saumur, and between with the Staff of the general De Lattre de Tassigny, of which he will become technical adviser during three years.
After the Algerian revolt of November 1st 1954, where freedom fighters carry out several murder attempts, Antoine Argoud forms the Brigade Javelot within the 7° armor-plated division. Following these events, Jacques Knight, Secretary of State to the war of the government Pierre Mendès France, appoints it military adviser with the Algerian businesses.
In 1956, it will take in Algeria the command of the 3rd regiment of hunters of Africa and will be Chief of staff of the army corps of Algiers.
Georges Bidault, Jacques Soustelle, Antoine Argoud and Pierre Sergent constitute the executive committee of the National council of Resistance (C.N.R) the May 20th 1962 with Rome indicating like chair Georges Bidault.
Anecdote
Carrying out a clandestine life, and learning the removal of colonel Argoud to Munich by men from the French special services, Georges Bidault publishes a virulent article and is immediately expelled of Germany towards the Portugal which in its turn expels it towards the Brésil, where it will pass more than four years with his Suzanne wife.
