Antoine-Michel Perrache

Antoine-Michel Perrache (Lyon, November 23rd 1726 - Lyon, October 10th 1779) is a Lyons sculptor and engineer, at the origin of the district of Perrache.

Project of the peninsula of Perrache

In 1766, it presents a plan to redirect towards the south the confluence of the the Rhone and the the Saone. This plan taking up the ideas and projects of Hardouin-Mansart and Guillaume-Marie Delorme.

In front of the opposition of the consulate and the episcopate, it ends up creating an independent company, the Compagnie Perrache in 1771. Having obtained the letters patent, it launches work in 1773. At the time of its untimely death, work has not very advanced. It is his/her sister Marie-Anne who takes again the torch. The whole will be completed only in 1839. The new district, gained on water, takes the name of Perrache then, as well as the station which is built there in the years 1850.
