Anthony Quayle

Anthony Quayle is a British actor born the September 7th 1913 with Ainsdale (the United Kingdom), deceased the October 20th 1989 with London (the United Kingdom).

Biography

Sir John Anthony Quayle (1913-1989, CBE ). Actor and British producer. Formed with the royal Academy of dramatic art, it is distinguished as much in the traditional roles from the theater (Hamlet, Henri V) that with the cinema (guns of Navarone, Lawrence of Arabia, the fall of the Roman Empire…).
Private, it is named second lieutenant of artillery on January 7th, 1940 after a course of raise-officer. He is affected in the auxiliary Unit ( Auxiliary Unit ) of Northumberland. The Units auxiliary, secret, are installation to carry out operations of guerilla and harassing, in a coastal strip of sixty kilometers, against the German forces, in the event of invasion of Large-Bretagne.
He is military adviser of the Governor of the island of Malta in 1942 then operational agent of the Special Operations Executive (SOE) in Central Europe. Commander (temporarily), it takes part in the operations of infiltrations of agents in Yugoslavia to frame the communist men of the maquis of Tito (code name SOE “ Surbiton ”) and in Albania, where it is parachuted (code name SOE “ Barking ”).
Ordering temporarily, it is quoted the 23.05.46 within the framework of special operations in the basin méditerranéen.
Promoted Commander of the British Empire ( CBE ), in the capacity as director Shakespeare Memorial Theater of Stratford-one-Avon, on June 5th, 1952 and anobli (Sir name) in 1985.
