Antestor is one of the first groups Norwegian of unblack or Christian Metal. Antestor is the only Chrétien group to have an album produced by Cacophonous Records, which usually produces albums for the groups attached to the Satanisme, like Dimmu Borgir, Sigh and Bloodstorm.
" Martyrium" really was not diffused with the great number, in 1994, had with the problems with their label.
" The Return off the Black Death" really left, in 1998, from Cacophonous Records, after the label discovered that Antestor diffused the Christian belief. For this reason, there is not much specimen of the album, and it is now rare. It is still sold on Internet, in certain stores undergound of Christian music.
However, " The Return off the Black Death" was well accepted at the same time by the Christians and the not-Christians fans of black metal. Antestor was quickly signed at Endtime Productions, a Christian metal label, which also helped with the launching of career of Extol. In 2000, Endtime arises " Martyrium".
During following years, the group remained somewhat quiet; they did not record any more albums until in 2003, when they arose on CD being entitled " The Defeat off Satan" their two preceding demonstrations. Moreover, they benefitted from it to replace several their members. Their vocalist original, Martyr, left the group, just as of others. Fortunately for Antestor, the dissolution of another group of Norwegian Christian metal, Vaakevandring, leads several former members of this group to join Antestor. I.e., Ronny Hansen, adopting new the moniker Vrede, became the new singer of Antestor, and Morten Sigmund Mageroy (known in Antestor as Sygmoon) is past new claverist. Edvardsen Ann-husband joined the group like woman vocalist. The beater, Svein Sander (in Antestor, Armoth), also left the group during this time, and Antestor again did not find beater full-time during several years.
In 2004, EP/maxi " Det Tapte Liv" is concentrated less on the aspects black metal of the style of Antestor, but more on instrumental songs. However, it showed that the group prepared with their album of 2005, " The Forsaken". Jan Axel Blomberg, better known like Hellhammer, was the beater of the session of Antestor on these two recordings. A new beater, Tony Kirkemo, joined the group later in 2005.
