Antef VII

Antef is a Pharaon of (whose sovereignty is limited to the High-Egypt, since Thèbes). He marries Sobekemsaf (that the tradition regards as an ancestor of).

He is the first whose warlike and organizing activity is attested. He builds in several places and takes, in year 3 of his reign, an edict concerning the temple of Min to Coptos which testifies to the authoritative character of the capacity thébain. He was buried with weapons (arc and arrows). Thus the site of its tomb, to Dra Abou El-Naggah, the north of those of its predecessors, indicates that it inaugurates a new series.

Contemporary of the Pharaon Hyksôs Apophis {{Ier}}, it seems to have had profitable relationship with him. Thèbes is still in peace with Hyksôs, and the exchanges are numerous between the two kingdoms. The assumption of an allegiance of Thèbes to the kingdom of north is not besides to draw aside, the influence of Apophis (which carries the title of King de Haute and Low-Egypt) being attested until Gebelein. Apophis moreover married his/her Hérit daughter, in the royal family thebaine.

It is following its reign, under its successors, that will start the open fight which will lead to the victory against Hyksôs and the advent of the New Empire.
