Antarctic Sound

The Antarctic Sound is the Arm of the sea of approximately 48 km length and 11 to 19 km broad which separates the islands Joinville from the north-eastern end of the Péninsule the Antarctic.

This arm of the sea was named by the Swedish Expédition the Antarctic directed by Otto Nordenskiöld according to the name of their ship Antarctic which in 1902 under the command of the captain Carl Anton Larsen, was the first ship to be sailed there.
