Antagonist of the receivers

See also: Antagonistic

In electrophysiology, an antagonistic is a Molécule interacting with a membrane Récepteur and blocking or decreasing the physiological effect of the first molecule. If these two molecules act on the same cellular receiver, one speaks then about “competitive antagonism”. If the antagonist acts on another receiver one will say that it is “noncompetitive”.

It is used to block a ionic current, in order to dissect the role of the various currents.
