Anselme Chiasson
Anselme Chiasson (Chéticamp, Nova Scotia January 3rd, 1911 - Montreal, April 25th, 2004) is a catholic Prêtre, Ethnographe and folklorist Acadie N. He was a burning defender of the Acadie and its name is associated with the foundation not only Université of Moncton, but especially of the Center of acadian studies which, under its impulse, became a reference impossible to circumvent on the history, the culture and the acadian Généalogie.
Biography
It followed studies traditional to the Collège seraphic of Ottawa in Ontario and studies theological to the Vault of the Repair of the Fathers Capucin S of Montreal. It was ordered priest capuchin in Chéticamp in 1938.He is professor of philosophy of 1941 to 1946, cleaned parish Saint-François-with Assise with Ottawa of 1949 to 1957 and professor of Théologie of 1957 to 1959. He is established then with Moncton, where he founds a convent of Capucin S.
In 1960, it Co-founds the acadian historical Company with the Father Clément Cormier and Emery LeBlanc.
It was the heart of the movement which made known the Acadie with the Acadiens. To advise and Ethnologist in history of Acadie and acadian folklore, it founds in 1961 the Éditions of Aboiteaux , the first publisher in Acadie. It is itself the author of about fifteen books.
It died out with Montreal at 93 years, after a short lung disease.
