Anonymous 4

Anonymous 4 is a group of four singers has cappella American composed of Jacqueline Horner (then Ruth Cunningham), Marsha Genensky, Susan Hellauer and Johanna Maria Rose. The unit founded in 1986 is based with New York. It is specialized in the interpretation of the music old and traditional of Hildegarde von Bingen with Pérotin, but also of the contemporaries John Tavener and Steve Reich.

The name of the group is borrowed from an anonymous English theorist of the 13th century Anonymous IV, primary source of two type-setters of the École of Notre-Dame, Léonin and Pérotin.

They primarily recorded for Harmonia Mundi.
