Biography

Created in 1984, the group obtains its first contract with the recording company Roadrunner only in 1989, after a first own-produced disc in 1986, entitled " Phantasmagoria" , past unperceived and now untraceable.

The first true album " Alice in Hell" in 1989 leaves whereas the thrash-metal is at the top of its glory with groups like Slayer or Metallica. Its musical quality enables him to meet a very important success immediately. The apprentices guitarists can appreciate the talents of virtuoso of Jeff Waters, through pieces like superb acoustics of introduction " Ann" hook; or on the high-speed parts of " W.T.Y.D." or " Burns Like has Buzzsaw Blade". He is currently always regarded as one of the major discs of thrash-metal, and is certainly best group. Jeff Waters will have thereafter great difficulty to reiterate such an exploit and some consider Annihilator as the group of this only album.

The singer Randy Rampage and the guitarist Anthony Greenham disappeared at the time of the exit of the album " Never, Neverland" the following year, replaced by Coburn Pharr and Dave Scott Davis. These changes of personnel will be ceaseless thereafter throughout the career of the group. This second disc musicalement follows the way traced by its predecessor but proves less inspired. However, it was sold well.

The third album " Set The World One Fire" , left in 1993, slows down the tempo and is resolutely very commercial. Pieces like very gauged FM ballade " Rising" phoenix; prove to be disconcerting for the fans and will however not allow to conquer a larger audience. This strategy proves to be fatal with the group which thereafter will not manage any more to find the same level of popularity.

Conscious of this error, Jeff Waters is turned over to its old loves and leaves 2 albums there heavy/thrash metal, the correct ones but without genius " King Off The Kill" (1994) and " Refresh The Demon" (1996). Success does not follow to the the United States then in full wave Grunge where this style of music does not have any more the dimension, and is just correct in Europe.

In prey with perpetual problems with its personnel, Jeff Waters decides to do everything all alone on the album " Remains" left in 1997. Musicalement, the disc appears very influenced by the Indus with many Sampler S and percussions played by computer. It does not achieve the unanimity and there still success remains modest.

Jeff Waters decides to strike a great blow by bringing together the musicians present partly " Alice in Hell" for the following album " Criteria For has Black Widow" , which is supposed to take again the things where its cultissime first album had stopped them: same topics, same fronts of high-speed guitars.

From this period, Annihilator delivers at regular intervals albums of an irreproachable quality to which it misses simply only one small key of genius which the public would be in right to wait on behalf of an exceptional musician.

On " Carnival Diablos" (2001) and " Waking The Fury" (2002), one finds as singer Joe Comeau, before guitarist of the New Yorkean of Overkill.

The group left the very good " All For You" in 2004. In 2005, excel it " leaves; Schizo Deluxe" , an album thrashy and powerful in the line " All for you". The line-up still changed, only Dave Padden and Jeff Waters is still present. In 2006, the dvd " leaves; Ten Years in Hell" , making the retrospective of the career of Annihilator of " Alison Hell" with " Criteria off has Black Widow". April 16th, 2007, leaves " Metal" , new the opus of the group with always Dave Padden with the song, the return of Mike Mangini to the battery and Jeff Toilets to low and guitar as to its practice.

Beginnings of the group until today, the various musicians who are succédé were rather regarded as guests intervening on the personal project of Jeff Waters that like full members of Annihilator .
