Annie Girardot is a French actress born the October 25th 1931 with Paris.

She was married (1962-1988) with Renato Salvatori, her partner in Rocco and her brothers , until the death of this last.

Raise with the Academy of the street Blanche since 1949, Annie Girardot made, in parallel, of the appearances in the evening in cabarets (the Red rose, in Montmartre, under the name of Annie Girard, or with nimble Rabbit…) and takes part in reviews such Dugudu with the troop of Robert Dhéry. In July 1954, it leaves the Academy with two prices and is shortly after committed with the Comédie-Française. Its interpretation of the Typewriter , in 1956, at the sides of Robert Hirsch, is particularly noticed by Jean Cocteau which sees in it “the most beautiful dramatic temperament of the post-war period”.

Its first appearances with the cinema are less bright, in films without ambitions, but it remarkably holds head with Jean Gabin in two good black series: the Red is put and Maigret tightens a trap . She finally resigns of the French unwillingly to devote herself entirely to the cinema. But, on the boards, it will be still directed by Luchino Visconti for Two on the swing at the sides of Jean Marais, tries the adventure (unhappy) of musical productions the Day of the tortoise or Revue and corrected conceived and put in scene by Bob Decout on musics of Catherine Lara. She knows a triumph, in 1974, with Mrs Marguerite , who became her role fetish and preferred, that she regularly takes again until 2002.

Other notable appearances on scene in:

With the cinema, it is the French actress most popular of the years 1970, alternating comedies and melodramas, not hesitating, on the occasion, to help of young scenario writers to make their first film. Thanks to it, and to Philippe Noiret, emerges one of the most successful most strange comedies and of this time, the Old maid -1971 - signed Jean-Pierre Blanc. But, having turned with the large old ones in the years 1960 (Flesh-colored, Delannoy, Grangier…), the most innovative scenario writers are hardly interested in it. François Truffaut writes even a letter to him repudiating the way, very demagogic, says it, with which André Cayatte treated " the business Gabrielle Russier " in To die to like , history of a young marked professeure of diversion of minor who had committed suicide in prison. This role remained however like one of most outstanding of the actress, ensuring even an international recognition to him.

Its gouaille was often with the film service proposing the women and feminism, and it incarnates, naively, this cause by interpreting a series of roles who exploit the assuming shift of characters of the trades usually reserved to the men: doctor, taxi driver, to be press photographer, police superintendent…

The September 20th 2006, one learns by his lawyer Me Emmanuel Asmar, in charge of its interests, which it is reached of the Maladie of Alzheimer, which confirms the edition of September 21st of the weekly magazine Paris Match , in which the grand-daughter of the actress and her daughter, Giulia Salvatori, reveal its disease. The latter publishes the following year a biography entitled the memory of my mother , where she consigns the memories of her mother.
