Anne of the Borough

Anne of the Borough , born with Riom in 1521, died with Paris the December 23rd 1559, is a Magistrat French.
Life and dead
Nephew of the Chancellor Antoine of the Borough, studying with the University of Orleans, Anne of the Borough was there also professor with Etienne of Boétie for pupil. He became adviser with the Parlement of Paris in 1557.In 1559, during a Reprimand (plenary session of the Parliament), it tackles the royal policy of repression against “those which one names heretics”. Not making mystery of its opinions calvinists, he speaks to the king Henri II with a great boldness in favor of the new opinions. Henri II the fact of stopping at once and embastiller.
With the accidental death of Henry II, the Guise then monopolize the capacity with the detriment of the young king François II. After a lawsuit, during which Anne of the Borough will use all the recourse of the right and in spite of the death of the king Henry II, he is condemned, in 1559, like Hérétique: with being hung in Place of Strike and its body flaring on the To rough-hew. He dies torture victim on December 23rd, 1559, after having declared with crowd: “ My friends, I am not here like a small drainage canal or a murderer, but it is for the Évangile. ”
This torment brought by reprisals the Conjuration of Amboise. The Elector Palatine of the Rhine claimed its thanks to the king to name it law professor with Heidelberg, but in vain.
