Anne de Lévis

Anne de Lévis , Duc of Ventadour was born towards 1569, it is the second wire of Gilbert III of Lévis, Count then Duc of Ventadour, baron of Cornillon and Pair of France and Catherine de Montmorency (girl of Anne de Montmorency and Madeleine of Savoy).

When it succeeded his father Gilbert III in 1591, like Gouverneur of the the Limousin, Anne de Lévis had already illustrated in Flandres in 1581 near the Duc of Alençon.

Anne de Lévis was a burning partisan of Henri IV, he crushed the forces of the League with Limoges and in 1591, entirely demolished the members of a league, close to Souillac in Quercy.

He was also count of Voulte and duke of Ventadour, Pair and Lieutenant-general for the king in Languedoc.

He married on June 13rd, 1593, with Alès, in the province of Languedoc Marguerite de Montmorency (1572-1660), his German cousin, girl of Henri Ier de Montmorency, Connétable of France and Antoinette of the Mark.

He died on December 8th, 1622, at 53 years.
