Anne Tyng

Anne Griswold Tyng (born the July 14th 1920) is an American Architecte and professor . She collaborated with the architect Louis Kahn in Philadelphia. She is graduate of Harvard, and doctor of the Université of Pennsylvania.

Biography

Anne Tyng shows a gift for mathematics and the design as of her young age. The Toy Tyng or Tyng Toy, a building set for children, watch his formal control. This toy makes it possible a small number of parts to be assembled and to form a great number of toys and pieces of furniture, of a chair to a rocking horse.

Tyng is a theorician re-elected for her work with the point of architectural research and for its passion for mathematics. Its thesis, entitled " Simultaneousness, Randomness and Order, " its interests combine. It is member of the American Institute off Architects, and off sits at the National Academy Design.

Collaboration with Louis Kahn

It is known for its collaboration with Louis Kahn at his agency of Philadelphia. She teaches with the University off Pennsylvania during 27 years, after 29 years of collaboration with Kahn.

In its work with Kahn, it is often quoted like its partner and MUSE. For example, the concept of Kahn for the " City Tower" is an original idea of Tyng.

After a relation between 7 years and Kahn, Tyng leaves to the autumn 1953 for Rome. This year, also year of birth of their daughter Alexandra, Kahn writes the every day to him.

Anne Tyng appears in the documentary one of Nathaniel Kahn, My Architect , in connection with her work and of her experiment with Kahn. She turns over in the building on which they collaborate for the first time, the Trenton Bath House.
