Anne Marie Martinozzi

Anne Marie Martinozzi, princess of Conti , was born in 1637 and died on February 4th 1672.

Girl of a Roman count, Geronimo Martinozzi, and of a sister of the cardinal Jules Mazarin, Anne Marie Martinozzi marries, on February 21st 1654, Armand of Bourbon-Conti, Prince de Conti, which, after having been one of the leaders of the Fronde, had made its tender with Louis XIV the previous year. Mazarin then gives to his/her niece the sum of 600.000 books.

As of June 1654, the prince must leave his young wife to Paris to take the command as a chief of the forwarding of Catalogne. The princess shows éprise tenderly, writing with her husband many affectionate letters. She re-examines it only on November 30th 1656, when she joined it in her castle of the Barn-of-Meadows, close to Pézenas, where the prince went to open the states of Languedoc. But they are again left as of spring 1657, prince de Conti having to turn over to fight in Spain.

The princess becomes widowed in 1666. She dies of an attack of apoplexy in February 1672. She is buried in the church Saint-Andre-of-Arcs, where its sons make him build a tomb by François Girardon, while its heart is placed to the Carmélite S of the Rue Saint-Jacob. In its will, she orders that the education of its sons is entrusted to their aunt Anne Genevieve de Bourbon-Cop, duchess of Longueville and names their uncle, Louis II, prince de Condé, in the capacity as tutor.
