Anne François Augustin of Bourdonnaye

Anne François Augustin of Bourdonnaye (Guérande 1747 - Dax 1793), above Viscount and general French.

Wire of Jacques Anne of Bourdonnaye de Boishullin, public prosecutor sindic of the States of Brittany, it Marie on December 22nd, 1778 with Elisabeth Josèphine de Mauger, girl of Laurent de Mauger, former captain of the Dragons and landowner with Holy Domingue. Military career

Anne François Augustin of Bourdonnaye engages with the service of the roy to the regiment of the Gardes Lorraine Infanterie in March 1761. It is with this unit that it takes part in the battles of Fillinghausen (1761) and Amoenebourg (1762). In 1771, it is employed in the Alps under the orders of the Bourcet general, then is used successively for Saumur and Metz " to learn the service from the cavalry following the Police officers ". At the beginning of the revolution, he is Major Général of the National guard of Nantes. In 1791, it is employed as brigadier to the 13th Division with Beautiful Isle and Brest.

In 1792, it is with the army of North where it contributes to the delivery of Lille occupied by the Austrians, then returns to Belgium where it seizes Tournay and Ghent. Following démélés with Dumouriez, the general of Bourdonnaye returns to France, to order the border of North.

In 1793, he is general-in-chief of the Army of the Dimensions then to the Armée with Pyrenees-Western the with the rank of major general. July 23rd, it pushes back a Spanish detachment of approximately " 3.000 men (who) had passed Bidassoa towards the 2 or 3 hours of the afternoon with some parts of guns ".

August 17th, 1793, he writes with a member of the Committee of Public Hello " I requested the Minister for the War to employ me elsewhere than in the South (...). The active and useful service that I made in Saint Jean de Luz, in July and until August 15th disturbed my health completely and worsened evils of rheins, formerly bearable. I Bayonne will take the Baths to 8 miles of Dax, department of the Moors, but the climate of this country kills to me. There were general officers of made, I made the trade of several: I ask to be employed in the La Rochelle, or Le Havre, Calais, Sedan, Metz, Strasbourg, Besancon, undoubtedly here is of the margin ". October 6th, 1793, after having asked in vain its change, he dies in DAX where he had gone " to take Bains" as its doctor had advised to him.

The captain Vallée (19th Regiment of Hunters with Horse) thus announced his death with the citizen Minister for the war " … this honest general, though of a caste generally proscribed like enemy of our holy revolution, had feelings worthy of one (...) honest republican ".

Epilog

Thanks to his/her son-in-law, Rene Congratulated Geffroy de Villeblanche, the widow of the General who lived " in greatest indigence " will obtain, the 24 messidor year XI, a pension of 1.900 frans per annum.

In 1912, the Municipal council of Lille decided to allot to a public highway (commune with the red Lily) the denomination of " General Anne of Bourdonnaye".
