Anne Bignan
Anne Bignan is a French writer born with Lyon in 1795 and died in 1861.
It is known for its verse translations:
- of the Illiade (1830)
- of the Odyssey (1840)
- of the Beauties of the Pharsale (1859)
- in prose of Hésiode (1842).
He wrote the Abolition of the draft of the blacks, epistle to the sovereigns of Europe
Victor Hugo made of it a caricature “receiving the price of poetry of the Academy”.
