During years 800, the colony became extensive and forms a village which depends partly on the monastery of Saint-Germain of Auxerre.
With the XII° century, Anneiacum is " closed thick walls with three porte" ( Courtépée );
In 1213 Eudes , duke of Burgundy confirms the freedoms granted to the inhabitants by the abbesses of Saint-Julien . The dukes of Burgundy controlled part of the vines of the village. The provost was charged to make them cultivate and to collect them.
In 1312 these vines are given in Fief to Jean de Seignelay as refunding of 50 Livres that one owed him.
With the XV° century, a church is built: " it is arched out of stone with ogival veins ; one notices there in particular beautiful woodworks, Style Louis XV, and some large tumulary flagstones. The bell-tower is a high square tower with broad buttresses. At the base of the one of those, one sees a small niche decorated with an escutcheon to the weapons of France"
Under Charles V the inhabitants illustrate themselves by a revolt: they refuse the tax and kill the receiver. the counterpart of the Baillif of Auxerre is exemplary: twenty-five captive inhabitants, fifteen inféaux and mécréans of hung Annet .
In November 1441 Annay becomes the camp from which the marshal of Burgundy will fight the flayers.
During wars of the League Annay was disputed and by the members of a league and the royalists. " July 23rd, 1589, all the leagued troops met in the bottom of Annay-the-Coast, near to Avallon. One summoned this borough to provide ammunition; but those of inside made fun openly of the Holy-Union, which made conclude to fire the guns that one had brought of Girolles. One saw soon brêches; and as Avallon had provided scales in addition to the vivres necessary to the army, Annay was taken all, plundered and was put at once at fire and blood. The sior of Jaulges had all the glory of this expédition." ( Courtépée ).
