Annate
The Annates were a tax perceived by the Pape on the ecclesiastical benefit, at each vacancy of the equipped seat.
Created by Clement V (1305-1314, first pope of Avignon) in 1306, this tax represented one year of incomes, made deduction of the loads of management and the maintenance of the benefit. This right, charged a long time by the popes in all Christendom, was the source of quarrels unceasingly reappearing between the court of Rome and the majority of the sovereigns of Europe:

in France: Introduced in France in 1320, then removed by Charles VI in 1385, the first fruits were restored by the Concordat of Bologna of 1516 signed between François Ier (1515-1547) and Leon X (1513-1521), then abolished by the French revolution of 1789.

in England: it is Henri VIII which removed them.
