Anna Visscher

Anna Visscher (born the February 2nd 1583 with Amsterdam - † the December 6th 1651 with Alkmaar, United Provinces) was an artist and Dutch translator .

Anna Roemers Visscher was the oldest daughter of the trader and poet amateur Roemer Visscher. The fortune of its family enabled him to follow traditional studies to Amsterdam. She learned moreover the techniques from the Calligraphie, the Broderie, the Dessin, the Peinture, etc She is especially known nowadays for her technique of Gravure on glass with the Diamant. On the traces of her father, it published books of emblems, translating in particular into Dutch the thirteen epigram S of Georgette de Montenay entitled Emblèmes, or currencies chrestiennes (1584). She composed certain poems of the collection of Jacob Cats, entitled Silenus Alcibiadis, Sive Proteus , or indifferently Emblemata , Minnebeelden of Maegdenplicht , or Sinne- in Minnebeelden (1618).
