Anna Pavlova
Anna Matveievna Pavlova (in Russian АннаМатвеевнаПавлова) is a Russian ballerina of an exceptional talent and a charisma which was, of alive sound, a myth of the ballet dancing in the whole world.
It was born with Saint-Pétersbourg the February 12th 1881 and died in $the Hague the January 23rd 1931.
Born in a modest family of origin, Anna Pavlova felt attracted by the Danse after having seen a representation of Sleeping Beauty in 1890. Formed at the imperial School of dance of Saint-Pétersbourg, it enters in 1899 to the ballet of the Théâtre Mariinsky. When in 1906 it becomes principal dancer, it already danced the greatest roles of the traditional repertory. It remains attached to Mariinsky until 1913. However, as of 1908, it begins its international rounds which will compose the essence of its career and will take it along in some 4.000 cities of the whole world. Its duets with Vaslav Nijinski in the Sylphids and Gisele remained in the memories, like especially its interpretation of the Death of the swan of the choreographer Michel Fokine, according to an extract of the Carnaval of the animals of Camille Saint-Saëns.
In 1931, with $the Hague, it contracts a Pleurésie which obliges it to make the choice between putting a term at its career or dying. But it could not be solved to stop the dance.
