Anna Maria Mozart

Anna Maria Walburga Mozart born Pertl (December 25th 1720 - July 3rd 1778) was the mother of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Maria Anna Mozart.

She was born with Sankt Gilgen (Austria), girl of Eva Rosina and Nicolaus Pertl, prefect appointed of Hildenstein. She married Leopold Mozart in 1747. They had 7 children of which 5 died of infantile disease. Their daughter, Maria Anna " Nannerl" Mozart, was a talented musician whose prowesses were quickly eclipsed by successes of his/her brother. The 2 children were involved in a European round by their father.

Anna Maria Mozart accompanied his son in several rounds, in particular when her husband was not authorized to leave the service of the archbishop of Salzburg.

She was not recognized for musical talents although she was married with a type-setter and professor of violin of international repute and although she was the mother of 2 prodigiously talented children.

Anna Maria Mozart died of fevers the July 3rd 1778, during a round with Paris with his/her son.
