Anna María Matute

Anna María Matute (Barcelona, July 26th of 1926) writer E Spanish E.

It is the second of five children of a family of lower middle class Catalan E, preserving and religious. His/her mother was Hispanophone and her father a catalophone, having a factory of umbrellas. One of the voices most personal and isolated from the Spanish literature, it was born has Barcelona, or it passed a childhood marked by the Spanish Civil war, which is reflected in its literary work, centered on " the little boys étonnés" who observed in spite of them and sought to include/understand the insanity who surrounded them. After the elementary school, it began an early and prolific literary career with Los Abel in 1948, which was one of the books finalists for the Prix Nadal

It was a weak child and it had to live the horrors of the Guerre of Spain, therefore its works speak about very pessimistic topics. Although she spoke about the terrible situation of the Spanish campesinos , she was not censured because she did not blame Franco. After his divorce, one prevented it from seeing Juan Pablo, his son, because of the Spanish legislation of the time.

It is the only current female member of the Royale Spanish Academy RAE (member K since 1996) and it is the third woman member of RAE .
