Ankur

Ankur (“sowing”, 1974) is an Indian film of Shyam Benegal, color and in Ourdou. It is about the first Feature-length film of Shyam Benegal which, in addition, mark beginnings of many Acteur S Indians. (Sadhu Meher had already played in the film Bhuvan Shome . Shabana Azmi had played in other films also, but it was Ankur which one let leave. It is not known if it were the first film of Kader Ali Beg or not). As much of other films of Benegal, it forms part with the kind of Indian films of art. The intrigue is based on a true history which took place with Hyderâbâd, apparently during the Années 1950. It was filmed almost completely in outside.

The film lasts approximately 131 minutes.

This film includes/understands a scene of Flagellation and more slandering which one usually finds in Indian films.

Synopsis

Lakshmi and her Kishtayya husband are two Intouchable S with the service of Surya, the son of a rich person landowner. Kishtayya, alcoholic potter deaf-mute and , does not state that by using gestures. Surya, married against its will with a too young girl, does not manage to control its frustrations and turns to Lakshmi. This one refuses with him and to be avenged, it drives out Kishtayya…

Rewards

Ankur gained 43 prices in India and abroad, including three national prices. The film was in addition proposed to appear in the nominations in the Oscars of the cinema in 1974.
