Animutants

Animutants ( Beast Wars: Transformers in American version), (ビーストウォーズ超生命体トランスフォーマー Bīsuto Wōzu Chō Seimeitai Toransufōmā in Japanese version) is a Televised series of Animation of Science-fiction in 52 episodes 25 minutes according to the imaginary Monde of the Transformers and was diffused October 16th 1996 with the May 7th 1999 in Syndication. In France, the series is diffused in 1997 on TF1 in the emission Club Dorothée and is repeated in 1999 on TF1 in the emission TF! Youth . Contrary to the information found in several French sites which affirm that the series was produced in Japan by Takara, Animutants has, in fact, summer produced by the Canadian studios MainFrame Entertainment.

Synopsis

Escaped of the Planet Cybertron, the Darkside , vessel of six Transformers resulting from Decepticans (see Transformers ) runs up against the Alaxon , a vessel of exploration of a faction resulting from the autobots. The two machines are damaged and are crushed on a populated planet of wild animals (one discovers thereafter that it is about the Earth to prehistory, where they landed following a temporal voyage).

They discover whereas the planet, too rich in énergon, is intolerable for them. They use then Scanner S to give the capacity to change into animals. The passengers of the Alaxon , ordered by Primal Optimus, name the Maximals , while those of the Darkside , directed by Mégatron, name the Prédators ( Predacon in English). Prédators stole a Maximum gold disc which, combined with a large resource of énergon, can enable them to conquer the Galaxie. A keen war then begins for the return on Cybertron…

Season 1

Season 1 is centered especially on the war between Maximals and Prédators, primarily on their respective goals: the maximals want to return on Cybertron, while Prédators want especially to recover the énergon necessary to set out again with the conquète of the Galaxy. the two factions are opposed on several occasions, Prédators using of all the possible stratagems. During this period, the teams constitute themselves at the beginning respectively of primal Optimus, Rhinox, Dinobot, Rattrap and Vélocitor for the maximals, and of Mégatron, Scorpinor, Tarentula, Byznator and Terrosaure for Prédators. Thereafter, of the protoforms maximals are crushed on planet, allowing the two factions to gain new allies: Tigatron and Serdacier for the maximals, the Black Widow and Inferno for Prédators.

At the end of the series, the planet is visited by a strange race Alien, the Vok, which try to invade it. Prédators and Maximals then make a trève to face them, but, quickly, this trève is broken by Prédators. After several complications, among which a treason of Tarentula towards Mégatron, Voks, are overcome, and the explosion of their vessel involves the destruction of primal Optimus…

Season 2

After the destruction of the Alien vessel, maximals as the prédators check the damage, which proves to be considerable: Primal Optimus is destroyed, Tarentula is seriously damaged, Rhinox and Byznator is in room of regeneration… But the events do not stop there. Shortly after the explosion, of radiations cross planet and penetrate in the vessels, concerning Mégatron, Rattrap, Vélocitor and the lifeless body of Tarentula. In confusion, Scorpinor and Terrosaure fall into the vats from lava from Darkside. When radiations cease finally, those touched prove to be transformed into new animutants more powerful, the transmétaux ones.

The war of the animutants begins again quickly, but the prédators, in spite of their losses, prove favoured vis-a-vis private maximals of their chief. The things become complicated quickly: after the discovery of a second gold disc in the vessel of Aliens, Dinobot and Byznator discover that the planet on which the two vessels were crushed is not other than the Earth of prehistory, original destination of Darkside. Also including/understanding that the gold Discs contain information which could make it possible Mégatron to change the future, Dinobot steals the two relics and the mask, but the Black Widow finds in the Prédator Computer a copy of information of these discs, and integrates them into its memory before withdrawing them computer. She discovers there the coordinates of the Arch, ancient Autobot vessel, and the access codes of Teletran one, the computer of bors of this vessel.

However, the vital spark (heart) of Tarentula takes the control of the Black Widow, and the force to repair its body. The insane scientist ressucite thus in his new form transmétal, reinforcing the rows of the prédators. And, nothing to arrange, Quickstrike and Silverbot, two animutants of a new type named Fuzor, also come to join the prédators.

Vis-a-vis this not very enviable situation, Rhinox tries a dangerous operation for réssuciter primal Optimus. A massive attack of the prédators forces it to stop, but Optimus réssucite finally and carries help to the others maximals. The prédators are finally pushed back, and one of the fuzors, Silverbot, leaves them to join the maximals: again, a balance is reformed between the two factions.

However, very quickly, the things become complicated again: initially, Dinobot is pulled about more and more between its fidelity with the prédators and its hatred for Mégatron, like its duty. It turns over temporarily to the prédators in " Return to the sources" and returns the gold discs in Mégatron, but returns quickly on the side of the maximals, which will not trust him however more désormais.
Then, Tigatron and Serdacier disappear mysteriously, removed by Aliens which returned. Mégatron benefits from it then to take the control of their vessel by using the extraterrestrial disc. The vessel and the disc are fortunately destroyed, but both maximals removed remain introuvables.
Nothing to simplify, Tarentula decides from now on to act as free agent, without obeying Mégatron more, and new animutant, Protoform X, arrives on planet. Exit of the unhealthy experiments of the scientists maximals, it behaves like a truth psychopathe, until Mégatron takes its control and re-elects it Rampage.
The Black Widow, on her side, starts to tie a relation with Silverbot, while remaining Prédator side. She starts however, in her turn, to hesitate between her origins maximals and her fidelity towards Mégatron.
Lastly, the maximals undergo an hard blow: Dinobot, finally decided on its allegiance, only faces with him all the army prédator to save the human ones, that Mégatron tries to eliminate by using the last disc from gold. After a fatal combat, Dinobot destroys the disc, thus ruining the plan of Mégatron, but the damage which it undergoes with the battle is right of him, and it dies surrounded by his comrades maximals who finally forgave him.

Then the war is again complicated by the arrival of a new character: Devastate, a deceptican sent by the Council of Tripledacus, an organization prédator of Cybertron, which has the role of capturing Mégatron. It there arrives thanks to co-operation of maximals and of Tarentula, but Mégatron reveals him whereas its plan, which consisted in changing the court of the history so that Decepticans gain against Autobots in the past (see Transformers), had been inspired by old Mégatron, which was the commander of Ravage. This one changes side at once, and is combined with Prédators to overcome the maximals. An attack is thus launched, but, once more, the prédators all are overcome: Devastate and Tarentula are destroyed, and all the prédators are put out of state to harm, except for Mégatron, which east left, and of the Black Widow, who accompanies Silverbot. The War of Animutants seems about to be completed…
However, Silverbot and the Black Widow make an unexpected discovery in a cave: the Arch, vessel of Autobots, which contains the totality of Autobots and Decepticans in the comas. But they are joined by Mégatron, which, understanding that the Black Widow has the access codes of Teletran one, obliges it to open the vessel by threatening it to kill Silverbot. The others maximals arrive on the spot, but too late: Mégatron penetrates in the Arch, and draws with full power on Optimus precedes, the chief of Autobots, which is always in coma in the vessel. Season 2 is completed on Mégatron, which, demented person, announces while exultant that the future will change, that Decepticans will have gained in this new future and that the maximals will thus never have existed…

Season 3

At the moment when Mégatron exulte, the Black Widow takes conscience of something suddenly: it is itself resulting from a maximum protoform, which means that the destruction of Optimus premium will also cause his… Including/understanding its error, it uses of the orders of Teletran to throw Mégatron outside and to try to save Optimus precedes, which yet really did not die but seriously not damaged, of a nearly certain death. The maximals arrive, and Rhinox announces that, being given the damage, the vital spark of Optimus precedes will most probably die out before repairs are not finished. Primal Optimus then has a risky idea: opening the body of the chief of the autobots, it withdraws its vital spark to him and integrates it into its own body, in order to protect it time to repair the corps.
The result is not made wait: Primal Optimus, impregnated by the energy of the additional vital spark, is transformed slowly and painfully into powerful transforming semi autobot-semi maximum, Optimal Optimus. On their side, Maximals and the Black Widow repair as quickly as they can it the body of Optimus prime.
However, Mégatron is raised and pointed out its forces. All the prédators prove to have survived, and answer its call: Inferno, though damaged, joined Mégatron, followed by Byznator which was repaired quickly, Quickstrike is rebuilt, Rampage is raised exhausted but unscathed and even Tarentula, however of pieces, is repaired by its robots-araignées.
Mégatron retente then to join the Arch, but it is found forced to deal with Optimal Optimus, which obliges it to beat a retreat. The Black Widow tries to flee while benefitting from confusion, but it is found wedged in a stone avalanche and crosses Mégatron, which leaves it with dead half to be avenged for its treason. It is recovered by Maximals, and agrees to join their rows, while remaining a prédator.
Optimal Optimus and Vélocitor launch out to the continuation of Mégatron, and manage to neutralize it at least temporarily, but not before it had time to launch the order in Rampage to destroy Alaxon. Malgrés an intervention of Optimal Optimus, the maximum vessel is broken, and its debris falls into the Ocean. Not having more their base of origin, Maximals settle with the Arch, to be able to protect it from the prédators and to possibly find a means of returning on Cybertron: the war of Animutants, once more, begins again, with the air to be always far from being completed.

Characters

Maximals

primal Optimus: chief of Maximals. Its animal is a gorilla. In the first episodes, it is also only Maximal knowing to fly (in robot mode). It is right, tolerant and authoritative, but is shown sometimes too idealistic. In season 1, it is the only one to trust Dinobot.

Vélocitor : maximum the fastest. Vélocitor is unforeseeable and bold; it tends to sink head lowered towards the danger without reflecting, which sometimes puts it in critical situations. Its character changes however during the series: it begins as a character kid rather, and finishes more mature. He likes much Optimus Primal and tests some feelings for the Black Widow. Its animal is an cheetah.

Rattrap : Maximum specialized in espionage and sabotage. Rattrap is a little loose, very pessimistic and often leaves the more or less good jokes. In spite of its cowardice, there remains a member of confidence of the team, and its missions, when he accepts them, are fulfilled in an effective way. It does not trust Dinobot at all, that it calls " Head of Iguane". Its animal is a rat.

Rhinox : the data processing specialist of Maximals. Generally calmer and considered that his/her comrades, Rhinox is specialized in defense. It is definitely more extremely physically than the others maximals, even if it does not exceed them in the armament. Its personality is a little double, it can as well behave like a good pleasant giant as true rough. Its animal is an rhinoceros

Dinobot : darkest of the team. Dinobot is a renegade prédator which, following an argument with Mégatron, joined Maximals to fight its former chief. Contrary to the majority of Maximals, Dinobot does not have much humor. Traditionalist, it has a very great direction of the honor. Other Maximals do not trust him, but he is devoted to primal Optimus, although he is sometimes in dissension with him, and its knowledge in history, in particular on Predators, is extremely useful. It does not cease disputing with Rattrap. In episode 5 of season 3, Megatron creates a clone transmetal of Dinobot thanks to half of the spark of Rampage. Its animal (for both Dinobots) is a vélociraptor, although the size rather makes think of a deynonichus.

Tigatron : Maximum resulting from a capsule of survival (vessel of rescue) being crushed on planet. Its circuits having been damaged, it feels more animal than maximum, and spends more time in the mountains than at the base of his companions. It resembles Vélocitor physically, even if it does not have absolutely the same personality. It seems attracted by Serdacier. Its animal is a white tiger. It disappears in season 2, captured by Voks.

Serdacier : single Maximum female. Like Tigatron, it is resulting from a capsule of survival. It is used as scout with the group, flying over the neighborhoods of the vessel to prevent possible attacks her comrades, and, if need be, to inform Tigatron. It seems to test weak for this one. Its animal is a falcon. It disappears in season 2 at the same time as Tigatron and in the same manner.

Tigerhawk : this Maximum Transmetal 2 appears in " Other Victory". Created by Voks by amalgamating the bodies of Tigatron and Serdacier, in order to create an emissary charged to eliminate Mégatron. It was then captured by Tarentula, which tried to absorb Vok controlling Tigerhawk. Then the body was recovered by Vélocitor, and the vital sparks of Tigatron and Serdacier settled there, creating a new ally for the maximals. The animal of Tigerhawk is, as it is guessed, a white tiger with wings and greenhouses of eagles. He dies in " nemesis share 2" while being made take a laser of the nemesis.

Silverbot : single fuzor of Maximals. It is resulting from a capsule of survival recovered by the prédators, and thus starts as a prédator. There do not remain to it however longtepmps, and quickly joined the maximals cause. Silverbot is true a paladin, the maximum equivalent of the " knight in his armor scintillantes" , according to a moral code strict and seeking before very making the good. It seems in love with the Black Widow. Its animal is a wolf with wings of eagles.

Deathcharge : maximum transmetal come to exterminate Rampage, it arrives on Earth in episode 2 of season 3. It is actually with the continuation of Rampage and wants to eliminate it for what it with fact with the colony Omicron (colony of origin of Deathcharge) before being locked up in a box of survival. It is rather proud and refuses at the beginning to make left the team, but it decides finally to join the band after Predators entered in possession of Sentinel. Its animal is a ray manta.

Predators

Mégatron : chief of Predators. Contrary to Optimus, it is tyrannical and proud to be it (it describes itself as " tyrant avisé"), no direction of the honor has and accumulates the lies. He wants to reign on the galaxy. Scorning, there does not remain about it less one strategic genius, but as it orders without delay the fold of its troops as soon as the combat turns to its disadvantage, it very often loses. Its animal is a tyrannosaure, but in episode 10 of season 3, Mégatron integrates the spark of Megatron present in the Arch and changes into dragon.

Scorpinor : Predator most faithful to Mégatron, and, after the departure of Dinobot, its second. He invents various machines, whose majority do not function (ex correctly: cyberabeille). Moreover, its intellect often leaves something to be desired. Its animal is a scorpion. He dies at the beginning of season 2 while falling into a vat from lava from the Predator vessel.

Terrosaure : The scout of the prédators. Of rebellious nature, it accumulates the attempts to take the capacity with Mégatron, the majority being failures, and the last, although successful, being of short duration. Its animal is a ptérodactyle. He dies in the same way that Scorpinor.

Tarentula : warrior ninja and insane scientist, Tarentula is the data processing specialist of Mégatron. Contrary to Scorpinor, the majority of its inventions function. It however does not have any fidelity towards its chief, in particular in seasons 2 and 3. He is crafty one, underhand and cruel. Its animal is a spider of the species tarantula .

Byznator (English name: Waspinator): the " larbin" of Mégatron. Byznator really does not seem an important character, being satisfied to carry out the orders of Mégatron without discussing (but not always without râler). It is for the other prédators a kind of scapegoat, that which one envoit as soft food to box the enemy shootings while the others attack. It is almost systematically that which suffers more of the response maximals, and is often made demolish, although it is always repaired. In spite of this position of martyr, it never betrays its Master in season 1, except when it is had by Starscream. It often accompanies Terrosaure in the mission as a scout. Its animal is a wasp.

the Black Widow (English name: Blackarachnia): Only the predator female. The Black Widow is, like Tigatron, resulting from a capsule of damaged survival, but was recovered by Terrosaure and reprogrammed in prédator by Tarentula, which also has chooses its animal fashion. It seems to attract this one in season 1, but this relation ceases in season 2. On the other hand, it seems to test a reciprocal love for Silverbot, which was sworn to bring back it side of Maximals. In episode 9 of season 3, the Black Widow changes into Transmetal and consequently becomes Maximal occasion thanks to an artefact of Mégatron, the Conducteur Transmetal. As its name indicates it, its animal is a black Veuve.

Inferno : Inferno is, like the Black Widow, resulting from a capsule of survival reprogrammed by Tarentula. Its circuits having been damaged, its mentality approaches more that of its animal, also regards it the prédators as its colony and Mégatron as its queen (it calls it " Its Seigneurerie"). With Scorpinor, it constitutes one of most faithful being used as Mégatron. Its animal is a Fourmi of fire. He dies in " nemesis share 2" while being made take a laser of the nemesis.

Quickstrike : the fuzor of Predators. Quickstrike is also resulting from a capsule of reprogrammed survival. Rather coward and aggressive, it seems to be influenced by Tarentula in the last episodes of season 2. He adopts a rather ridiculous attitude of cow-boy, and is not very intelligent. Its animal is a scorpion whose tail finishes, instead of a dart, by a head of cobra. He dies in the same way that Inferno.

Rampage : This character appears in episode 9 of season 2; it is Transmetal; it is resulting from a capsule of survival but was to never be slackened because it is one of the invulnerable droïdes of Starscream: it was to thus be slackened very far from Cybertron in space. It is released following a storm of énergon and starts as a more or less neutral character since it throws out of gear Tarentula and attacks without distinction the Black Widow and Maximals. Mégatron uses then a blade of énérgon to extract half of its spark and to make of Rampage its slave. Rampage lives only for the destruction and finds its happiness only in the suffering and the fear of the others. Its animal is a crab.

Others

Starscream : same Starscream as that present in Transformers . It is about Deceptican chief of the air army of his faction, and equipped with a indestructible vital spark (which was used as model to create that of Rampage). It briefly appears in the episode " Possession" , or its vital spark is incarnated by taking possession of the body of Byznator. He then affirms to be killed by defending Galvatron against Unicron (whereas it was destroyed by Galvatron, that it had just betrayed) and then offers his services to Mégatron, which accepts. Starscream helps the prédators to seize the base maximum, but hastens to then betray them for its own account. It is overcome by Optimus and is forced to leave the body of Byznator by the Black Widow. Underhand and machiavelic, Starscream is a strategic genius which estimates that all is gained by treason.

the Vok: a powerful extraterrestrial race appearing in certain episodes. One does not know large thing about them, if not that they seek to protect the future, and that they capture Tigatron and Serdacier in season 2, in order to use them later to create powerful animutant being used to them as emissary: Tigerhawk.

Devastation: Devastation is an agent deceptican; it is one of the robots " animaux" kept in the form of audio cassette by the deceptican Soundwave whose animal form was a black panther. It was sent by the council of Tripledacus (an organization deceptican) to stop Mégatron and eliminate all the others to transform planet. It is combined at the beginning with the maximals and Tarentula to capture Mégatron, it with what it arrives, but is combined then in Mégatron to destroy the maximals. It is destroyed when Rattrap places bombs in its vessel, the explosion entirely consuming it.

the vessels

After the vessels were crushed, their systems of takeoff were damaged too much for refonctionner. Nevertheless, the computers, shields, rooms of regeneration, weapons of defense and others still functioned, which allowed Maximals and Predators to use them like bases and to preserve them. Here respective vessels:

Alaxon: the vessel of Maximals. As said it Rattrap, this vessel was not a warship, but rather a machine intended for exploration. Nevertheless, it did not lay out of it less excellent defense system, in particular a shield named " Sentinel" who protected from any attack for one long life. The Computer of control had a serious and male voice. Axalon is destroyed in " Optimal situation" by Rampage, which succeeds in making it run. The ruins will be then found by it in " Changing off the guard" , or Predators recover Sentinel.

Darkside: the vessel of Predators. Contrary of Alaxon, Darkside was a true man-of-war, equipped with many weapons and crushed in fields of lava, which made it still more impregnable. Its prison was constituted of a swimming pool of lava to the top of which the cages were suspended, and Tarentula had installed its first laboratory there, like various security system in cobweb. The Trip computer had a feminine voice. This vessel is finally destroyed in " Other victories" by Tigerhawk at the time of its arrival on planet.

the Arch: towards the end of " The Agenda leaves 3" , Silverbot and the Black Widow discover, wedged in a volcano, the vessel autobot named the Arch (always the same one as in " Transformers"), which had been crushed since years on Earth. All Autobots and Decepticans of " Transformers" , in particular Optimus precedes and Mégatron I, were, wedged there in a coma. Métgatron penetrated in the Arch to destroy Optimus there precedes, but was put in failure by Maximals. After the destruction of Alaxon, Maximals settled in the Arch, which was used to them as a basis during all season 3. The computer of control of the Arch is called Télétran a , and the vessel incorporates much more defense system and of rebuilding that Alaxon.
