Aniane
Aniane , in Occitan Anhana is a common French, located in the department of the Herault and the area Languedoc-Roussillon. Its inhabitants is called Anianais.
Geography
Located at the end of the throats of Herault and at the beginning of the valley of Harault, Aniane was always a crossroads. Located at 35 km in the North-West of Montpellier, Aniane is with 36m of altitude.

History
When in 777, Saint Benoit chose the wild edges of a brook to establish its monastery, it called this brook " Aniene" or small " Anio" , to souvernir some of the Italian river " Anio" on the edges of which Holy Benoit de Nursie, founder about the Benedictines, had built his monastery. Such is the origin of the name Aniane.
In 782, the emperor Charlemagne helped soon Benoît to build abbey who was dedicated to St Saver.
In 1503, an epidemic of plague decimates the population.
In 1545, an outburst of violence falls down on the country. The religious buildings are plundered and ruined.
In 1562, it is the complete destruction of the abbey.
In 1721, freezing destroys all the agriculture of the area, only thrive the very many tanneries until the end of 19th (which ceased any beginning activity 20th)
In 1925, the cooperative wine cave the Treillised vineyards, on the initiative of the small wine growers of Aniane is born and is always in activity.

Located near two Abbeys of world famous Gellone and Saint Benoit, Aniane offers wines of great quality. - Olives
The ROOMS establishments were founded in 1920 by Etienne ROOMS with for objective the collection, the preparation and the marketing of olives of country with Aniane, centers geographical of an important production of olives of table. The sale was made out of barrels of chestnuts from where in parallel an activity of cooperage. An important turning is taken in 1956 following the damage of the French olive groves by freezing. The production being overdrawn, one imported olives of Algeria then, then of Morocco. In the Seventies, the company widens in an industrial way its manufacture with the condiments (gherkins, capers, onions alternatives). The evolution of the profession directed us towards a Moroccan partner " Agro signal Export " in Marrakech with which we produce all varieties of olives limp about it and out of barrels. Other conditionings (sachets, bottles) being realized in France. The company, in spite of its industrial evolution remained, among most important, one of only to maintain its activity of origin: confectionery and the marketing of olives of country.
