Angus Young

Biography

Angus Young was born on March 31st 1955 with Glasgow in Scotland. It is the last of the family. In 1963, it leaves Scotland with its family to go to live in Australia in the suburbs of Sydney. Over there, it leaves the school as of the 15 years age and prefers to work (he becomes model maker in a company of magazines in pornographic matter) to be able to pay material of professional and to become rocker. He played already of the guitar since the four years age. He creates his group Tantrum before joining AC/DC which his/her brother Malcolm Young had created. He is classified 96ème with the classification " the 100 Greatest Guitarists off All Time".

He exploits models of Gibson SG which is its preferred guitar. According to the " légende" , the dress of schoolboy whom it carries on scene comes to him from an idea of his/her sister. Indeed, when it was young, after the school, it did not take time to change to go to play of the guitar. It thus “Why wouldn't you keep said to him your costume of schoolboy during the shows? ”. And since, it threads this behavior with all the concerts.

He married with Ellen Young, a Dutchwoman and lives in Holland when he is not in round.

Angus is regarded today as one of the largest guitarists of its category, and its play with encouraged many people to begin the training of the guitar.

Material

The only model of Guitare that Angus always used is the Gibson SG. According to the estimates it would have 17 different models of them. It used a standard SG, a special SG and a reproduction of 1961. Its first SG was one of 1968 qu' it always kept until today. Angus is an enthusiast to support SG 1961 and it shows it with each concert. According to its dires, it is the only guitar which it is able to carry during the two hours that a concert lasts and that Ci would be adapted also perfectly to its little fingers.

For the Ballbreaker Tour, Angus took along four guitars but does not have, in fact, mainly used that only one. Others being reserved for the sound-checks. Thus, it used mainly a red SG, 1964 (the Paul) SG. If not, a black SG of 1961 Paul/SG. Angus always had this guitar in its panoply of SG.

At the time of the Jam session with the Rolling Stones, Angus used a Gibson ES-335.

The house Gibson, thanks to popularity that Angus acquired, marketed the Gibson SG Signature Angus Young.
