Beginnings of Angouleme

The roots of the ASAC go back to 1920 by the foundation of the section football of the SC Angouleme. The SCA removes the championship of DH of the League Mid-west in 1923 and 1924. The club is renamed “ACE of Charentes” in July 1925 by Misters Lebon, Allory and Castillon. After the death of the two last cities, is under the impulse of president Lebon whom the ASC manages to gain five championships of League (1934, 1935, 1937, 1938 and 1939).

Mr. Boillevin inherits the presidential armchair to the death of the president Lebon (1943). After having begun with the meadow from Bourgine, ground prone to the floods, the club obtains a ground worthy of this name: the Stage Guillon (future Lebon) used since 1932, but inaugurated officially in 1935 after the installation of platforms out of wooden. Extremely of a new championship of Division of Honor, the club chooses professionalism in 1945. It is the time of Grizzetti, Alempijevitch, Amroui, Oudot and other Déniort. The most memorable result of this period is the participation of Angouleme in the semi-finals of the Coupe de France 1947. Before exploding vis-a-vis the RC Strasbourg (6-0), Angoumoisins had eliminated two large from the elite: the Red Star and the Stage of Rheims. After some passages in CFA, the club renamed ACE Angouleme returns to professionalism in 1965 under the cane of Angelo Grizzetti, ex-captain of the first professional team of the city of Valois of 1945 to 47… The club disputes even the Cut of Europe of the towns of fairs 1970 - 1971 after an excellent 4th place in Division 1, where the club is maintained three seasons (1969 - 1972).
