Anglo-Spanish war (1585-1604)
The Anglo-Spanish war of 1585 - 1604 is an intermittent, punctuated conflict battles important but very distant from/to each other, and having opposed the kingdom of England of Elisabeth Ière and the Spain of Philippe II.
This war is intrinsically related to the vaster theater of the dynastic, religious and commercial tensions in Europe. It begin with a victory gained by the English with Cadiz, in 1587, and especially by the fiasco met by the Spanish forwarding known as of the Invincible Armada. England, however, appeared unable to capitalize on these assets and the war turned gradually in favor of Spain.
Several other homonymous wars were held between England and Spain during 18th and 18th centuries. ( See Anglo-Spanish War )
