Angioma
The angioma is a benign malformation resulting from blood-vessels or lymphatic abnormally dilated, whose origin is known little about and the evolution badly included/understood.
Il can be of origin Congénital E or to appear spontaneously and form spots color bind wine of sizes and aspects different.
It is considered that a child on approximately ten has an angioma. The angioma testifies to the immaturity of the vascular system of the newborn and, in the majority of the cases, disappears spontaneously without leaving traces.
One distinguishes several types of angiomas:
- the angioma in relief or hémangiome, of type tumor
- the plane angioma, being presented in the form of a spot, generally present as of the birth on the face and/or the body,
- the Syndrome of Sturge-Weber or SSW) is a plane angioma, which is not a tumor, which is not hereditary and whose etiology is still unknown. it can sometimes be accompanied by ocular and neurological disorders. In more than 50% of the cases, the person touched by such a syndrome will develop a glaucome same side as the facial plane angioma of the frontal and palpebral area higher, especially if the AP occupies the eyelids higher and lower. One finds sometimes anomalies vascular of the bottom of eye or a leptoméningée vascular anomaly being able to cause, often before 2 years, a Comitialité (at 75% of the patients having intracranial vascular anomalies) and, a more or less important driving deficit of the opposed hémicorps, with delay of acquisitions. (Incidence 1 case for 50.000). The origin could be a somatic change intrautérine affecting the former primordium neural, before the migration of the cephalic peaks neurales .
- Angioma in tufts (symbol: AT ), also called “Angioblastome de Nakagawa”
- cavernous Angioma (or “cerebral Cavernome” ); vascular malformation located mainly in the brain, generally not detected, except when it causes convulsives crises and/or with brain hemorrhages. (Frequency: 1 subject over 1000, with family form in 20% of the cases). 3 genes located on chromosome 7 and 3 seem implied.
Close diseases are the Hémangiome S; benign tumor (noncancerous) of the cells endothéliales (papering the blood-vessels) which multiply at abnormally fast intervals.
Treatment
It is today possible to treat the angiomas, for example, by using a laser. The results depend on the age of the patient, of the localization of the angioma and its characteristics. The treatment can, in certain cases, to allow a complete disappearance of the angioma, but it is not systematic.
Famous cases
- Gorbatchev has an angioma on the top of the face.
